Did Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax Sexually Assault Dr. Vanessa Tyson?
On February 1, 2019, Virginia Governor Ralph Northam came under fire when a photo in his 1984 yearbook showed what appeared to be Northam wearing blackface standing next to another student who was wearing a KKK hood. Because of this photo, many are calling for Northam to resign as Governor. Upon his resignation, Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax would then assume Northam's position.
Upon hearing that Fairfax maybe promoted to the position of Governor, Dr. Vanessa Tyson decided to issue a statement about the sexual assault she experienced involving Fairfax. She first did this by posting a statement on Facebook in which she did not mention Fairfax.s name. After Fairfax denied any wrongdoing, Tyson then issued a statement naming Fairfax as the person who assaulted her.

On February 8, 2019, a second woman came forward claiming Justin Fairfax raped her in 2000 while they were students at Duke University.
