Was Anthony Sanchez guilty of murder?

This month, Oklahoma executed Anthony Sanchez for the 1996 murder of 21-year-old Juli Busken who was a student at the University of Oklahoma. As Sanchez was being strapped to a gurney in the death chamber, he made the following comments.

"I'm innocent. I didn't kill nobody."

The best denial is to deny the act itself. This is done by saying, "I didn't do it" or in this case by saying, "I didn't kill Juli." Deceptive people have a hard time denying the act. Therefore, they will choose to say something like, "I am innocent."

We also see his denial is not specific. Instead of saying he did not kill Juli, he stated he didn't kill "nobody." This is another indication he is guilty of her murder.

Sanchez chose not present a clemency application to the state’s Pardon and Parole Board. This would have given him a chance to spare his life. Why did he not submit the application? Probably because he knows he killed Juli Busken.
