Did David Beckham have an affair?

In 2004, David Beckham's former assistant Rebecca Loos claimed she had a four-month-long affair with the former professional soccer star. At the time of the alleged affair, Beckham was married to former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham. This month, Loos doubled down on her claim of the affair when she appeared on 60 Minutes Australia. During the interview, Loos stated, "I have stuck to the truth. I've never exaggerated. I never lied about a single thing." Loos gives a good statement backing her claims of the affair. Let's see what David Beckham had to say when the allegations were first made in 2004.

"During the past few months I have become accustomed to reading more and more ludicrous stories about my private life. What appeared this morning is just one further example. The simple truth is that I am very happily married and have a wonderful wife and two very special kids. There is nothing any third party can do to change this."

The article which quoted Beckham said that "Beckham robustly denied newspaper claims that he had an affair with his former personal assistant." Robustly? That is an exaggeration. Denied? That would be incorrect since Beckham made no denials. The closest he came to making a denial was to say the allegations are "ludicrous." The word "ludicrous" means foolish, unreasonable or ridiculous. While it would be foolish to have an affair, Beckman never said, "I did not have an affair."
