Why did President Trump go into an underground bunker?
On May 29, 2020, with protestors outside the White House, President Trump went to an underground bunker for a short period of time. On June 3, 2020, the President explained why he went to the bunker.
"I was down during the day and I was there for a tiny, little short period of time. And it was much more for an inspection."
Common sense tells us the President probably didn't go to the underground bunker to inspect it. We can see that is the case when you look closely at his statement. President Trump didn't say he went into the bunker for an inspection. He said it was "much more for an inspection." The words "much more" tell us there was another reason why he went into the bunker. This was confirmed several days later when Attorney General William Barr said the Secret Service recommended the President go to the bunker as a security precaution.
The President tried to spin it and get us to believe it was for an inspection but his words betrayed him.
