Statement Analysis® is the most accurate way of determining if a person is being truthful. This is because people's words will betray them. This on-demand training will show you what to listen for in a verbal statement and what to look for in a written statement in order to detect deception. These techniques can be used when interviewing a suspect or when interviewing a job applicant. They can be used when examining a witness, when counseling a client, when reading an article or in a causal conversation.
The training is designed as a self-guided course so you can proceed at your own pace. There are eleven lessons and a review. At the end of most of the lessons, there is a short quiz you will have to take to make certain you understand the techniques taught in the lesson. It's an open-book quiz so the answers are easily found.
There are also eleven test statements for you to analyze. You can compare your analysis with a completed analysis. This will allow you to see how well you are grasping the techniques. For the final test statement, you will submit to me your analysis using an online form. I will review your analysis and provide you with some feedback. If you have any questions while taking the training, there is a link on every page where you can contact me.
This on-demand training contains the same information I share in my two days of classroom training. After completing the training, you will be able to print a Certificate of Completion. The certificate will state you have completed 16 hours of training.
There are two objectives to this on-demand training.
1. Identify methods of analyzing a subject's verbal and written statement to detect deception.
As you listen to or read someone's statement you want to know if the person is being truthful. This is especially true if you are conducting an interview. If the subject is misleading you and you do not realize this, you will conclude the interview having obtained little information or perhaps bad information.
2. Learn how to recognize what a subject is telling you based on the language used.
Often people tell us one thing but we hear something different. This is because we have the tendency to interpret what a person has said. However, you should never interpret because people mean exactly what they say. By analyzing each word in a statement, you will be able to recognize what a person has said and obtain additional information from their statement.
When you register for the training, you will create a username and password which will give you immediate access the training. Your username and password will be valid for four months (120 days). This will give you plenty of time to complete the course.
Please note: The name you use to create an account will be the name that will appear on your Certificate of Completion. However, at the end of the training, you will have the option to change the wording of your name on your certificate.
This training comes with a 56-page workbook that is located online. It is recommended that you print the pages of the workbook that corresponds with the lesson you are working on. Each page of the workbook has a "notes" section where you can write down some additional information or some of the examples listed online to help you remember the techniques.
The cost for the Statement Analysis® On-Demand Training is $175. If you would like, you can preview a few of the lessons for free before making your purchase. To purchase or preview the training, use the link in the left-hand column. If you have any questions that are not answered in the FAQ, please send me an email.
All of my training and studies have been in the United States. Therefore, this training is based on the English language as spoken in the United States. Cultural differences and phrases used in other English speaking countries may have to be taken into consideration when analyzing a statement from someone outside the U.S. The majority of the techniques will apply no matter what language a person is speaking.
